Using Your Kit
It's simple and easy to use
-
Step 1. Ask your Doctor
Your physician will then order your Personal Genetic Report. You will receive a Saliva Collection Kit, which contains everything you need to get started.
-
Step 2. Activate your kit
Go to activate and follow the easy step-by-step instructions to create your password-protected, secure online account.
-
Step 3. Fill saliva tube
Provide 2ml of saliva in the tube, as marked on the side. To ensure there is sufficient DNA, rub your cheeks and swish the saliva around in your mouth.
-
Step 4. Send it back
Place the saliva collection tube containing the sample into the prepaid envelope provided and return it to our secure, onsite federally CLIA certified laboratory.
-
Step 5. Get your results
When your results are ready, you will be contacted by your physician. They will provide you with an easy-to-understand, comprehensive report of your DNA analysis.
A Simple Saliva Sample Gives You Access to Your Genes
It's easy. Once you purchase your genetic report(s), we'll send you a Saliva Collection Kit. You provide a small amount of saliva into the tube and return it in the prepaid envelope, all of which you'll find provided in the kit. Go online to activate your secure online account and complete the health survey, which should take five to ten minutes. In a matter of weeks, you will receive a link to your secure account where you can download an easy-to-understand report presenting your personal genetic information. Your report provides in-depth details on each condition from Harvard Health Publications and specifics on the genes we screen. You also have access to our certified genetic counselors for personalized report interpretation and counseling. Of course, customer service representatives and genetic counselors are also available for any pre-purchase questions.
Comprehensive Genotyping - What is it?
Regardless of what type of report is ordered, our laboratory uses state-of-the-art equipment and methods to conduct Comprehensive Genotyping, which uses a chip capable of detecting thousands of genes. Our testing generates all genotypes pertaining to our current and prospective reports. However, we only display the markers and result(s) for the report(s) you ordered. Comprehensive Genotyping generates information that could enable possible future interpretations based on new scientific data.
- What Are Potential Benefits?
-
- Lower cost of each initial report
- Lower cost of each subsequent report
- In some cases, no new sample collections may be required to obtain additional reports, which results in speedier information
- In some cases, additional interpretations could be available at no additional cost based on new scientific discoveries
- What does it mean?
-
Through Comprehensive Genotyping, Pathway Genomics captures more genotype data than was ordered and reported, which is beneficial to you, as described to the left. All data is protected through our Privacy and Security Program, as stated in the Privacy Statement.
We believe that everyone has the right to discover the information hidden within their own DNA. That's why we've created a secure, private, comprehensive and affordable way for you to learn about the story behind your personal genetics.
“This is about gaining more knowledge about yourself. This knowledge leads to better lifestyle and health decisions.”
